Tonight is First Friday At Double Daughter's Salotto... Chris Conant Chris Conant is a graduate of the Indiana University, where he studied metalsmithing and silkscreening. His current artistic interests include oil painting and architectural design; Chris is enrolled in a Master of Architecture program at the University of Colorado at Denver. He has formerly shown art at venues such as Core New Art Space, Rob Foster Gallery, and at the Thomas Brown Talent Show. Chris Conant has also worked in portraiture with local artist Pamela Mougin of Mougin Studio. About the art: Archetypal imagery and concepts are main themes in the work of Chris Conant. These ideas are then produced in a style proclaimed as comic realism. In this style, hard contour lines dominate the structure of the work, while subdued and washed-out tones fill in between the lines. The archetypal characters often have exaggerated shadows and textural qualities in order to give theme a three-dimensional realism. At the surface level his work appears to be playful, however, common humanist struggles and grievances are inherent in his work. As we enjoy doing here at the Salotto, opening night for the exhibit will be teeming with complimentary nibbles and discounted drinks (especially discounted during Happy Hour).
